- DIGITAL SOUND TRACK UPDATE
-
-
- ATTENTION OPALVISION USERS:
-
- At the time of release of DST, The OpalVision Modules that support PIP were
- still not shipping. All the hooks are in place and ready to go as soon as
- they are released. Call us as soon as you receive your OpalVision Modules
- so you can get your update of the required Arexx scripts.
-
-
- ATTENTION PAR USERS:
-
- After the manual was printed we added support for DPS's Personal Animation
- Recorder. The gadgets are somewhat different for the PAR from the ones
- described in the manual. This file should get you up and running.
-
- CURRENT TIME CODE
-
- Unfortunately the PAR does not directly support SMPTE time code.
- This window does give an approximation and can be pretty close. When used
- with the REVERSE and FORWARD buttons it does match the time shown in the PAR
- interface. The delay needed will be different on every machine. You can edit
- this number from the menu option called "Change Time Delay". The default
- is 20000 but experiment with it until you get close to 30 frames a second.
- You may want to change this delay depending on what programs you are
- multi-tasking (isn't the Amiga great!) when using DST and PAR.
-
- SELECT ANIM
-
- This gadget brings up a file requestor window which allows you to
- choose your PAR animation. Just choose your file and click on PICK or
- double-click on the file of your choice.
-
- SELECT FPS
-
- This gadget allows you to choose one of PAR's preset frame rates
- for playback. Clicking on it brings up a window with gadgets for 30, 15,
- 10 or 5 frames per second. Just click on your preference and go.
-
- ANIMATION LOOP
-
- This brings up a window with ON and OFF gadgets to turn Looping of
- your animation ...well,...uh...on or off! Note the PAR does not loop anims
- smoothly there will be a slight hiccup before it starts back at frame one.
-
- GENLOCK MODE
-
- This brings up a window with buttons to choose whether you want the
- PAR to use INTERNAL or EXTERNAL sync.
-
- GOTO START
-
- Clicking on this gadget will move PAR to the beginning of the
- selected animation. It will also set the time in the Current Time Code
- window to 00:01.
-
- GOTO END
-
- Clicking on this gadget tells PAR to go to the end of your selected
- animation. Amazing, huh?
-
- REVERSE and FORWARD
-
- Use these gadgets to step through your animation one frame at a
- time. When clicked they will advance or reverse the anim one frame. You
- can also click and hold to simulate a jog shuttle - PAR will step through
- the anim until you release the mouse button. NOTE: If you quickly click
- several times on one of these they will act just as if you are holding
- the button down. Just click in any blank area of the screen and the
- anim will stop.
-
- PLAY
-
- This one will - well play the anim.
-
- SEEK
-
- Just like it says in the maunal. This one allows you to go to a
- specific time code. You can not click on a specific number to change.
- Just enter the time from the keyboard starting with the left most number.
- The numbers will shift to the left as you enter them. If you happen to
- enter the wrong number just keep hitting 0 until the first numbers move
- off the window to the left and reenter the correct time.
-
-
- PAUSE
-
- Clicking on this will pause the anim if it is playing. Clicking it
- again will restart the anim.
-
- STOP
-
- Yep, this one stops the anim while playing. If you want to start it
- again just click PLAY.
-
- RECORD SWITCH
-
- Once you've timed out your sound to the anim, you will use this
- switch to record it to tape. When you click on this gadget you will get a
- requestor asking if you want to start playing music before or after
- beginning the animation. You would click on BEFORE if you wanted to say
- use a MOD and have it playing when the anim started. You could also use
- this if you wanted a particular sound effect to begin while the anim was
- paused on frame one before the anim starts playing. Click on after to
- have a sound or MOD start at a specific time code in the anim. Great for
- adding foley effects. Once you click on BEFORE or AFTER you will get a
- window into which you enter the time code for the delay. This window acts
- just like the window describe under SEEK. When you enter the time and hit
- return. A window appears telling you to start the VCR recording and then
- click OK. You will have to manually start tell the VCR to start recording.
- Click on OK hit one of the function keys that contains the sounds or mods
- you want and DST will time it as you requested in the delay window.
-
